181 Midterm Crusade

After the midterm elections, when the House of Representatives fell to the Democrats, the Kingdom of MAGA despaired, saying “Alas! Alas! Alas! It was the war with Iran! It was the gas prices! What shall we do?!” And yea, all the political pundits and social media influencers echoed the same, until the King spoke and said, “I’m still your President.” Silly? Yes. Oversimplification by said pundits and influencers? Definitely yes, and the habit of oversimplification of complicated issues has been a common strategy since at least the 19th century, when romantic histories of the Crusades had been (re)written by European authors. On tonight’s Mosaic Ark the ladies discussed the midterms, and how today’s pundits approach their topics in a way very similar to how those European authors approached the Crusades, and hopefully remind you, and ourselves, that all hope is not lost. —Streamed November 6, 2026
